Bel Air was selected as the site of the first branch store of the Kunkel Service Company of Baltimore. The Auto Parts store which opened in 1921, was an offspring of the Kunkel Wagon Company started by John N. Kunkel who built wagons in Baltimore after he migrated from Germany in 1860. Over the years, the company has expanded to be one of the largest automotive supplies and equipment distributors in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. From four employees in 1921, the company has grown to over 315 employees operating fifteen stores throughout the region. The Kunkel Service Company would like to thank our customers for their many years of support! During the past 14 years, The Kunkel Service Company has specialized in the Paint and Body, Auto Detailing, Automotive Parts, Battery, and Electrical Divisions. In 1997, an Equipment Division was established to Sell, Service, Repair and Install Automotive Equipment.
